Something about her attendance. I believe the last straw was that she got up and left for some reason knowing it would be unexcused.

Well not really. But it's always fun to have news going around about SOMETHING and usually the only thing that gets us all excited is hearing about another one leaving (and I don't mean excited as in all happy and giddy)

yeah I suppose you don't get a lot of news/change if you are on a hiring freeze.

I'll be one of them, so I'll be sitting at home watching soaps with my feet up ordering my butler around.
And we've actually lost 3 people this week. One of them was my podmate.

no wonder your hours are so stinky, they have no one to work!

that's right. My dad was excited when I told him that 2 people that got fired last week were over me in seniority. What I tried to explain that he FINALLY understood was that it doesn't matter since there are hardly any people below me and that number keeps getting smaller. Not bigger.

what do you think would make them undo hte hiring freeze

absolutely nothing. I don't think they have any intention of undoing the freeze. I think it's their goal to get rid of us high paid folks who know what we're doing so they can hire non-high paid people who don't know what they're doing.

But how can they hire all these newbies if there is a hiring freeze?

They call them incidentals and only hire them for a certain amount of hours and then their time is up (Ex 850 hours). They don't actually share our job title nor do they do our exact same job. They simply take incoming calls and route the ticket down to the screener (us), but as they start losing us then I'm sure they'll retrain these folks. Really...this is only the beginning. So, I'm not exactly sure how all is going to end up working out.
